Open Oceans Swimming Lessons
Master the Art of Swimming – From the Pool to the Open Ocean
At Open Oceans, we believe swimming is more than just a skill—it’s a lifelong ability that fosters confidence, safety, and a connection to the water. Unlike high-impact sports, swimming is a low-impact, full-body workout that can be carried into old age, offering endless benefits for fitness, endurance, and mental well-being.
Our approach to swimming instruction is simple, effective, and unique. We break swimming down into three easy-to-understand phases, ensuring every student builds a strong foundation before advancing to the next level.
Our Three-Step Swimming System
- Breathing Mastery: The foundation of swimming confidence. Learning to control your breath ensures relaxation, efficiency, and endurance in the water. Without proper breathing, technique falls apart.
- Arm Technique & Stroke Efficiency: Proper arm movement dictates speed and fluidity through the water. We focus on streamlined, powerful strokes that conserve energy and maximize distance per stroke.
- Kick & Body Positioning: The kick is the engine that drives a swimmer forward. If executed improperly, it drags the lower body down, creating unnecessary resistance. Mastering an efficient kick ensures smooth, fast movement through the water.
Where We Teach
Every swimmer has a different starting point. That’s why we customize each lesson based on individual needs and confidence levels.
- Pool-Based Lessons: For those new to swimming or looking to refine technique in a controlled environment, we start in the pool. Here, students can build confidence in a calm setting before transitioning to open water.
- Open Water Lessons: Once comfortable, students graduate to the open ocean for real-world skill development. Training in dynamic water conditions teaches swimmers how to navigate currents, waves, and tides safely and efficiently.
