Open Oceans Youth Camp - Session 1
The Open Oceans Youth Camp is designed for ages 10 to 18, providing participants with essential ocean safety skills, CPR & First Aid certification, and physical fitness training in a dynamic and structured environment. Through hands-on training in open water swimming, paddleboarding, beach fitness, and emergency response, participants will gain the confidence and knowledge needed to stay safe in coastal waters.
This program is more than just a surf camp—it’s an opportunity for teens to develop real-world lifesaving skills, build resilience, and enhance their strength and awareness in the ocean.
- Heartsaver First Aid, CPR & AED Certification – American Heart Association (AHA) course completed on Day 1.
- Ocean Safety & Awareness – Understanding rip currents, tides, and safe ocean entry & exit.
- Confidence in Open Water – Open water swimming techniques, breath control, and wave navigation.
- Paddleboarding & Rescue Skills – Learning to handle a board in waves and assist others in distress.
- Beach Fitness & Strength – Running drills, bodyweight workouts, and endurance-building exercises.
- Emergency Preparedness – Hands-on training in real-life first aid and water rescue scenarios.
- Monday (Classroom Session):
8:00 AM - 12:00 PM – AHA Heartsaver First Aid, CPR & AED Certification
Participants will receive: AHA Heartsaver Book, Pocket Mask, Open Oceans Completion Certificate, and Official AHA Certification Card.
- Tuesday - Thursday (Ocean Training at Crystal Pier, Wrightsville Beach):
8:00 AM - 11:00 AM – Hands-on ocean skills training (paddleboarding, open water swimming, beach fitness, and emergency response).
- Friday (Make-Up Day if Needed):
Reserved in case of weather delays or additional training needs.
While we plan to hold the clinic as scheduled, safety is our priority:
Weather Cancellations: Decisions about cancellations will be made 20 minutes before the start of a session.
Make-Up Day: Friday is reserved for one make-up session if necessary.
No Refunds: If weather cancellations exceed the make-up day, no refunds will be issued. Parents assume responsibility for weather-related risks.
Early Pick-Ups: Parents must promptly pick up their children if weather conditions force an early end to a session.
